Sometimes finding truth in this world can be hard and confusing. Not knowing who to listen to or what to trust. What we should say, how we are supposed to act, what our thoughts mean….how to live like a Christian. There are so many voices that we begin to drown in a sea of empty noise. But the good news is there’s only One Truth and it doesn’t beg for attention. It’s quiet. Seamlessly woven into every good and perfect thing. It speaks with gentle whispers, rests in silence, and reveals itself in every being. It’s the wind rustling through tree branches and waves crashing along the sand. When we find ourselves lost in the noise we can rest in knowing that there is ultimately just One Truth and we have unlimited access to it. It’s the Word of God. It’s the Bible. Jesus’ heart poured out to us in words on paper. A tangible voice that doesn’t scream for our attention but rather whispers to our souls. Yes, it can be helpful to hear others’ interpretations of the word and active community is vital, but when we have deep questions concerning our lives, why not ask The One who gave life itself? After all, Holy Spirit is the only one who can administer true conviction so when seeking honest discernment it’s beneficial to ask Him. To just be quiet, listen, and remember that the hardest voice to hear is probably the one you need to follow the most. We serve a God who is so polite and grants us so much free will, that we have to meet Him half way. He is gently knocking on the door at all times, just waiting for us to invite Him in.
My prayer for all of us is that we not get lost in the noise, but rather we slow down and soften ourselves to the whispers placed on our hearts.
